To-Do List

I am a total list person. If I have a bunch of things to do, I need to write them down. This helps my head from exploding, and I get a deep satisfaction from making little check marks next to things I have accomplished. It's the little things right?
Right now I have a huge list of projects that need finishing. However, instead of a neat list, all of the projects are running around in my brain which just makes me want to sit on the couch and watch Dr. Who. I thought maybe if I wrote them down so I can see them, I would be more motivated to actually do them. I could take each project one at a time and as an added bonus I could check them off when I get them done.

So here is my list:

Finish Painting Kitchen
I started the paint job about two months ago after I saw this picture and realized just how white and boring my kitchen was. I love the changes, but need to actually finish the job.

Update Fireplace
I bought spray paint for the bronze fireplace cover, and special paint to paint the pink and possibly red tile. One of my favorite bloggers, Young House Love, claims it holds up better then even they were expecting. If it doesn't, the plan is to tile over the hideous pink tile.

Paint Moldings on New Windows
Since we bought our house, we have slowly been replacing all the old windows. It has been a three year long process which, if all goes as planned, will be completed this summer. It is my job to paint the trim and patch up any plaster after the windows are installed. Well, all finished windows still have unpainted trim.

Update Front Porch
This is yet another project that involves paint. I started by painting our front door a vibrant orange. I decided, in the process, that our light fixture looked a bit outdated. I found a great one at Home Depot, which is still living in his box. I also started painting the roof of the porch white to lighten things up a bit. I got the coat of primer on and left it at that.

Clean out Front Closet
I have been meaning to do this for awhile, but keeping the dishes done has been a chore unto itself, so my organizing skills have been put on the back burner for awhile. Well, I am having a garage sale soon to liquidate all our junk treasures from the garage, and I would like to be able to sell a few things from this closet. This one doesn't involve painting so maybe I will actually finish it.

So there you have it. My to-do list for the moment. Unfortunately we are still putting the finishing touches on our addition so it may take a bit longer than I would like to finish all these projects. And a double whammy is that our addition requires a lot of painting. Uhggg I haven't yet mentioned how much I despise painting, but you've hopefully gleaned that already.

The Pox

This past week has been a rough one. To sum it all up, my baby has chicken pox. Poor little guy didn't know what to do with himself for a couple of days. He would look at me as if saying, "Mama, fix it." And I couldn't. It broke my heart.
He is doing much better, but we are still stuck at home until all his blisters scab over. I think Grace is having the hardest time with that. Grandma and Papa bought her a bike for her birthday and she has wanted to take it the park so badly.

His poor feet definitely got the worst of it. They looked even worse then this the day after I took this picture. I don't know how he has even been walking.

Grandma and Papa's Farm

I love my family's farm. I spent many summers helping my dad and grandpa with the upkeep a large farm requires. I deeply cherish the memories and bond I made with my Grandpa in particular. He instilled in me a strong work ethic to the point that you don't sit down on the job... EVER. If there is nothing to do, find something. However, I could always get a break when I needed one by asking my grandpa a question that would require a story explanation.

There is something very special about that place and I hope to share a little of that with my kids. Last weekend the three of us took a trip down and were blessed with beautiful weather.

My handsome "little" brother all dressed up for prom.

Like Father, Like Daughter

I love to watch Joe with our kids. He is such a great dad, and they absolutely adore him. This moment is a piece of what I always hoped my life would be. Thank you Lord.
