Owen is One

My baby turned one on Tuesday. Which I guess means he is officially no longer a baby.
Owen and my grandpa, Papa Dick, share birthdays so we had a joint party.  I decided on a dinosaur theme and made the cakes accordingly. Owen's cake is a baby dinosaur hatching from an egg (my brother thought it looked like a lady bug :{  ).

And here are a few of the decorations:

Not much really; just a few dinosaurs and a clothes line with pictures of Owen from the past year. Owen didn't mind the lack of decorations one bit, and after making and decorating the cakes, I was glad I didn't have to decorate. On a completely unrelated note, if you look in right hand corner of the above picture, that is me as a baby.

And now for the best part... Presents and cake.

Happy Birthday Owen.

And for those of you who care to sit through several minutes of my son eating cake, here ya go:

One of Life's Little Moments

Week 12 (a little late)

Yep, I left the goldfish bag within reach of my son. Enough said.

It Just Keeps Getting Sweeter

Yesterday, Joe and I celebrated five years of marriage. I can't believe it's been five years already. Time flies when your having fun right?

Excuse me while I get a little sappy. Joe, you are the most incredible, godly man, and my best friend. I love the way you take care of me and our family. I love watching you with the kids; when you tell Grace she is beautiful and give her a big hug, and the way you make Owen laugh while you two are playing. Your patience is a perfect match for my sometimes quick, emotional responses. ;) You are honest and true to your word. When given the opportunity to take the easy way or the honorable way, you would never sacrifice ease for what is right. You have been by my side through the births of our children and through crazy, unexpected surgery, and your presence such a comfort to me. I love you more with each passing day; with such a deep, richer love then when we first started out. I can't believe I am blessed enough to spend today, tomorrow and the next day with you. Love you from the bottom of my heart.

New Door

52:11

Okay, I didn't exactly get a new door, but with a little bit of chalkboard paint I made our old door look new. I love how it turned out. I must give a big shout out to my sister for the idea. Great job sis! The kids and I love it. You can also see the new paint color in the kitchen just to the right of the door. I am not finished painting yet which  may or may not have something to do with having little ones and waiting to paint until after they go to bed. With some minor fixes, I am changing the look of my kitchen, and I love how it is taking shape. Stay tuned for some before and after pics, well, after the project is done. No promises on when that will be.

I love how this picture captures Grace giving Owen a piece of chalk so he can try it out too. She is so good to her little brother. I hope they always love each other this much.

What a Stud

52:10

Our addition is coming along nicely... although I am sorely missing my washer and dryer. We have some great friends and family who have let us use theirs, but with two small kids and some sickness, I feel like everything in the house that could be washed, needs to be washed. I am thinking about celebrating with some champagne when we install our new stack-able washer and dryer. :)

Owen, on the other hand, is loving the construction and really could care less about dirt. He loves going out to visit Papa and cries every time I bring him back into the house.

Snow in March

52:9

I'm sure Joe secretly rolls his eyes every time it snows because I get as excited as the kids. In my defense, I did grow up on the coast and can count the number of times it snowed at my house on one hand. However considering yesterday was March 1st, I didn't expect to wake up to any snow. The daffodils and tulips are getting ready to bloom, the days are getting longer, and spring is on it's way right?
We couldn't make a snowman because snow in Oregon is basically ice that has disguised itself as snow, but we did have fun stomping around.

That's My Boy

...and it's not possible for me to love him more.

Family Meals

52:8

I have such good memories of eating dinner with my family as a young kid. As we got older, we still ate together when we could, but life got busy. I am soaking up the days while my children are young and we are all on the same schedule; where dinner is a time of story telling and song, and the occasional, "only five more bites."
